Donate to Haiti victims

13 January 2010

Sadly, Haiti was struck with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake near Port-au-Prince last night. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Like many other places, it is impossible to imagine the poverty until one actually goes there. Having traveled to Haiti, The thing I remember most is looking into the pink and tired eyes of the people there. The conditions in Haiti should not be allowed.

Due to the lack of emergency infrastructure, Haiti simply cannot cope with the situation on it's own. The few hospitals there have suffered unrepairable damage. The government buildings, including the National Palace, have been flattened. The Red Cross has estimated that as many as 100,000 230,000 have been killed and 3 million have been affected by the earthquake. Haiti desperately needs foreign intervention, so it is crucial that organizations capable of providing help receive the necessary funds.

Clustur is a free service. If you have found this site to be useful, I urge you to make a donation to the American Red Cross now.

I don't mean to depress readers, but there are just way too many people (including myself) that would rather pretend like these sorts of disasters don't take place. I think it's always important for people to be reminded about ways they can help those affected. Thanks for your time.
